Sound Story
Hello Bloggers and welcome back to my blog! Within the last week, I have had the pleasure of creating two different videos, with my friend Marcus, that had to do with the topic of someone running late for school. In the first video, we captured different sounds to make this story possible. I collected sounds of a fridge opening and closing, to show the character grabbing a quick snack before he has to leave. I also recorded a door opening and closing to show that the character is leaving his room to go downstairs and leave his house. My fellow classmate Marcus, created sounds of footsteps that he used both on wooden and marble floors to really track the character's footsteps in the scene and further express the rapid pace occuring. He also recorded his bookbag shaking to show that the character is picking it up and is about to leave. The second video is called a Foley Video, and basically, it was us recording actual visuals and how we made the different sounds presented in the first video. We used the editing software IMovie to put these whole videos together and the extra sounds that had been used were used from YouTube.
Now that I have discussed an overview of these two videos, I will tell you about the experiences behind this and different obstacles that we faced in the process.
Furthermore, this has really opened my mind up to how it is possible to create a whole story with just some sounds and it was really entertaining making these sounds and putting it all together. We had some problems with editing and trying to bridge everything in with good timing and sound but we edited it a lot and the final product turned out really good. At first, I had made the sounds too gentle so I created different clips where I made the sounds more aggressive in order to really capture the scenery and emotion behind these clips. I honestly enjoyed thinking of different ways to make the sounds and trying to think outside the box to help the story flow. This was a great opportunity to learn more about these different sounds that can be made and what they can portray as well, allowing films to come together as a whole. I learned a lot of different strategies that we can use in editing softwares to allow these different sounds to come together and really help create a description of all the noises that happen in our day-to-day lives. I hope you guys have enjoyed it and I will see you in the next blog!
