Costuming

    Welcome back bloggers! I am so excited of how far we have made it through this journey and I can't wait to start filming our masterpiece, Forsaken, this weekend! Very exciting news but first before anything, I want to touch more on what our actors will be wearing for our film. I did talk over this briefly in the last post about it being more of a casual outfit, like what anyone would usually wear at the mall or for a hangout. Still, I want to reiterate and provide more context on the reasoning behind it. I also want to incorporate the psychology information in coloring behind why we picked out the different costumes for our actors. 

    To begin, we are thinking of utilizing white to show the simplicity behind the outfit since it is just a hangout spot that we are filming at. As well as utilizing colors like red to show off high energy and excitement with the adventures that they are going to have in the mall. The warmer hues are going to be our best friends when helping throughout specific scenes, especially with going to the Arcade and we feel that this will just allow the film to run smoothly with having that mindset set into the colors of our clothes. With tons of red and radiant lights all over the arcade, putting it into our outfits will make the mall scenes more engaging. So we are trying to give off lots of excitement throughout this film and the use of these high-temperature colors is so crucial to the whole process when you look closer behind it. I hope this allows you guys to get a deeper look into our film and we can't wait to talk more about this project with you guys in the next blog. See you then!

Preparing to film

    Greeting Bloggers! We have some amazing news to share with you guys on our project! Before we start filming Forsaken, which is rapidly approaching, let's get into specific details on how this whole production is going to look like. 

Costumes:

    Firstly, let's talk about specifically what we are anticipating our actors to wear on set of Foresaken. We know that the it is going to take place in the mall as Kendrick and his friends are hanging out and having a full day of adventures so with that being said we want to utilize casual clothing for our actors. At the mall, we all don't wear much extravagant things as we are just regularly shopping and hanging out in comfort. We are expecting to add in little things that also add in to mind the charcter's originality.

Props:

    During the mall visit, the props that we are going to incorporate is just regular typical things that you would see such as shopping bags and food to give off the realism. Also, out actors will be engaging in the Arcade and playing the several different games, this is what we are anticiapating to be the peak excitement. Additionally, we plan for the character to open his laptop after he wakes up or check his phone and we will see the alarm clock going off as well. These props will give off a spectacular atmosphere and give off the true feelings that we are going for. 

Actors:

    Let's get into our casting crew! So, we are having our partner Alexander as one of the main actors that is friends with Kendrick as well as another one of our friends not in AICE Media and you are up for a suprise. Our actors will being off a unique vibe for the film opener and add more emphasis towards the narrative. I will be helping my partner Marcus with creating different ideas and providing as much tips as possible as well as filming some scenes. 

Location and Dates & Times:

    Now, let's discuss some information we have been waiting for a whiile to announce. We are planning to film our opener at Pembroke Lakes Mall sometime this month and we will get into more specifics with timing on this filming journey in the upcoming blogs. This location is absolutely perfect and will provide the full experience for our film since there is an arcade and a bunch of popular stores within the mall, we can't wait for you guys to see! The other location will also take place at our friend's Freddy, who plays Kendrick, house.

                

Film Equipment:

    After taking a look at what film equipment will be suitable for this film, we decided to utilize my partner, Marcus's iPhone. This will be the best attempt towards filming since he has the newest iphone out of all of the crew and it will be best to caputure every detail on the move. Plus, we can also do a sketch of the editing with utilizing iMovie to see how the scenes will turn out.

Initial Storyboard

      Greetings fellow bloggers and welcome back! Today, my partners, Marcus and AJ, and I will be discussing our storyboard for our final project. Previously we did go into our ideas behind the mood board but now just like before we are also creating a story board to help better show different scenes that we will be incorporating into this project. This storyboard will allow for more emphasis behind lots of the scenes that we will be constructing and will help to get a bigger picture behind this film. This will allow for great sneak peeks into our developing process and will allow both you and us to visualize this idea and help it come to life. I will include the storyboard with better explanations below...

     Diving straight into this storyboard, we have a preliminary idea of how our film is going to sepcifically look like and as we take a look at the first page we already see our establishment of the setting being at the mall and we see the scene where our protagonist, Kendrick, is waking up in the picture below. We do expect to do a full shot of this moment to capture the entirety of body language that occurs as he vigorously wakes up. Additionally, moving through we have the scene where all of his friends meet up and they start to walk in and explore the mall very joyfully. We expect our story to start off here and as they continue walking the come up straight to the food court where they begin to eat and just casually talk about life and their plans for the day. Following this, we are thinking to have scenes as they walk past different stores and go into the stores to show the real adventurorous mall experience and enjoyment that they are feeling at their day in the mall. After shopping, they will go up to the Arcade and this is where we want to have a lot of scenes to show the vibrancy and also elaborate the change as he begins to wake up after this scene. We are expecing this scene to be one of the most dramatic ones throughout our opener. Thank you fro reading today's post and stay tuned for more of our plans for Forsaken! Forsaken Mood Board

     Welcome back bloggers! I have an exciting visualization of our project as me and my partners, Marcus and AJ, are developing it. We can't wait to give you an idea and first looks into our project and the feelings we are going for throughout the film. We have picked different pictures to utilize in our mood board to allow you to get a background of the setting and to elaborate on the environment that it will be giving off. We will also touch on factors like the Mise en scene, throughout the film and how we are expressing it within our mood board. I have included the mood board below...

As you can see, for our project we want to create a nice and vibrant environment throughout the film. Also, you get a sneak peek into some of the locations we will be going to and pretty much get an understanding of several different components. For starters, they will definitely have things like shopping bags to capture the essence of the location, doing fun activities such as bowling, etc. Then, the characters would just be wearing casual clothing as they are just hanging out and chilling with friends. Finally, I included different pictures of the mall, to provide further understanding of the aspects and detailing of the mall.  This is just such a great method to express our film's layout and give you insight into the thoughts we have behind it. We can't wait to provide more insight into our project. But for now, we will see you in the next blog post!

Final Project Idea

   

    Hi Bloggers, weclome back! I am here today to reveal the winning idea that we are going for in our AICE MEDIA Studies Project. Before I discussed the two ideas that me and my partner Marcus had been brainstorming with his idea called Forsaken and my idea called Stranded. After discussing everyhting as a team we have decided to rule in favor of Marcus's idea with Stranded because as he continued explaining all of the ideas and as we saw it come together, this had been the best idea we could have asked for. I love how he presented the social ideas that is the main idea throughout his narrative and the fun setting that we are planning to have it in. I cannot wait to start filming all of these details sound great to have a fun and hyperrelistic film opener. Continue reading along today as I go into more specifics on our finalized film opener narrative. 

    From Marcus first describing this to us, he put tons of thought into all of the specifics just in the brainstorming phase and I could tell that this would be very nicely thought out and organized. Additionally, we came up to the conclusion that this film opener will be drama genre since this stroy starts off to look like such a fun and enjoying day at the mall with the protagonist Kendrick and his friends, but then we see that this opener takes a complete turn as he wakes up and none of his adventurous day was real. Expanding on what I was saying earlier about social groups, this film opener is specifically targeted towards individuals who are having a rough time in life mentally and are having issues of loneliness and feeling isolated. I also feel like this opener is a great tool to show others that they are not alone and there is always help out there. Overall, this would fit into the drama convention since we are portraying the very rapid and immediate change in the mood. With several different editing and camera techniques, in the future you will see the distraught changes and I cannot wait to make this idea come to life. Title Sequence Research

     Hello Bloggers and welcome back to my blog! Today we will be exploring the essence of Title Sequencing and the real background analysis of why these movies and shows utilize the specific titles for their film. I can't wait to enlighten you more on this and explain how it is used in some of my favorite movies and shows. We will explore this creation process together and look further into the factors that are used in creating these titles. I will continue with one of my favorite childhood movies...

Movie #1: Spider-Man: Homecoming 

    Firstly, We have Spider-Man: Homecoming and this first picture represents the movie title by showing Peter Parker walking the halls in High School as "Homecoming" relates to high school in general. This is just one of the many ways that they make the representation and setting of high school throughout the film. This shows his first day back in High School but also being Spider-Man. 

    Furthermore, we have a part in the movie where Spider-Man's suit is glimpsed at real quick, also portrayed in the title as it overall goes into the life of Peter Parker. This also makes such an important connotation in the movie as it shows him having to be a secret as Spider-Man and juggling his own day-to-day life. This really just emphasizes the huge secret Spider-Man has to keep in his life and the difficulties. 

    Lastly, we have a difficult scene of Spider-Man trying to save people he really cares about from High School and being so noble while juggling his personal life and his superhero life. This is just one of the hardest clips and difficult events that occur throughout the whole movie to tie everything all together. 

Show #2: Stranger Things

 

    In addition, we have another amazing show called Stranger Things, where a bunch of friends are hanging out in one of the kids' basements, and then the other kid rides his bike home and disappears. This is shown in the first picture where we see the missing paper of the kid. This is such a hard and prominent part of this show as this boy has disappeared for much of the episodes until he is later found. Also, we have the second picture which is a restricted area sign of the U.S. government. This portrays some weird business going on in the context of this movie and adds to the suspension throughout the movie. All of these pictures are essential to the film process. 

Movie #3: Home Alone

 

    Finally, we have one of my favorite Christmas Childhood Movies "Home Alone". It is based on a boy being left home as his family forgot him while going on vacation. We see this in the first photo where the little boy is freaking out and screaming that no one is home. We see such a chaotic atmosphere that Kevin is experiencing. Later, we see shadows that the little boy sees through the window as burglars are trying to break into his house. This is a major component of the plot in Home Alone. Brainstorming

     Hello fellow bloggers and welcome back! Today, we are going through a huge first step for our final Media Studies project. My partners, Marcus Cheeatow, AJ, and I are brainstorming so many complex ideas for this project and I am going to discuss them in this post. 

  STRANDED

    Firstly, my idea is called "Stranded" where a mysterious person is chasing the protagonist in the woods. This would be a great component to incorporate for the video to give off more of a horrific scene. I was inspired by this idea from watching movies like Scream and even the sound story project that we completed in the past since some people expressed in their scenes a chaotic and terrified feeling. I loved the creativeness and aspects that they used and this would be great to utilize within our scene as well. Furthermore, the setting would be dark and gloomy and the protagonist would look terrified as he sees a shadow behind him and then he runs away from the antagonist. Overall, this is one of the ideas that could be great for our final video.

 FORSAKEN

    Now that we have taken a look over my idea for the project, Next, we will explore my partner, Marcus Cheeatow's, idea for our project. Marcus brainstormed a film called "Forsaken", having the protagonist, Kendrick, with his friends Justin, Sam, and Michael are going through a mall in the summertime, having fun. Then, they talk to each other, buy different clothes and accessories, and play in the arcade. Then Kendrick sees something that sparked his eyes. Later on, everything goes black and he hears an alarm clock. Everything was actually a dream. He had no friends as he just relocated to a new neighborhood in Florida. Basically, the story follows Kendrick having friends and realizing later that it was all a dream. This is such a great idea that we could collaboratively make come to life or our final video.
